Dr James Xu

Consultant & Interventional Cardiologist based in Sydney, Australia 

Dr James Xu graduated from the University of Sydney Medical School in 2009, and completed Cardiology training at Liverpool Hospital, Sydney. In pursuit of further knowledge and expanding his scientific horizons, Dr Xu was awarded an Australian Government research scholarship to pursue a PhD in Medicine, which he completed through the University of New South Wales. His PhD has led to numerous high-impact publications, research grants, as well as research prizes.

Dr James Xu’s area of expertise lies in complex high-risk minimally-invasive coronary interventions. His dedication to staying at the forefront of advances in complex coronary interventions led him to travel overseas for a highly competitive advanced CHIP/CTO Fellowship at the prestigious Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital at Northwell Health, New York, USA.

Dr James Xu is currently appointed as a Staff Specialist Cardiologist at Liverpool Hospital, Sydney, where he serves as the Director of Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories. He is also a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales, and is deeply committed to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, actively contributing to the development of future healthcare leaders. Dr. Xu’s continued dedication to research focuses on the latest advancements in acute coronary syndrome, coronary physiology, microvascular dysfunction, coronary atherectomy, and chronic total occlusions.
